This Light Installation work was created for a Semi Staged Production of Elgars The Dream of Gerontius. It is a vivid, moving Choral work, which follows an everyman character, Gerontius as he leaves this world and ascends into heaven , encountering angels , demons, souls and eventually god on his journey.
Lucy created the staging concepts and designs for this performance. Drawing upon religious symbolism and the light qualities used in classical religious imagery. The lighting worlds and textures, traced the text and musical energies to provide a visual, visceral and immersive environment for the story to evolve in. The abstract light energies play above and over the orchestra and singers in a layer of abstract, otherworldly and ethereal emotions, to heighten the whole experience.
