Sadlers Wells commissioned Lucy to create a work that inhabited a non theatrical space in a series of commissions for an event called No Body. Lucy created a triptych of works that responded to her exploration of the everyday backstage spaces at the theatre, that spoke of the amazing Intensity and excitement of the act of theatre creation itself. Evoking the emotional highs and lows and pressured moments of working in theatre.
On one hand show casing to the audiences, the work spaces of the technical teams and the energy,
excitement and concentration of backstage and on the other creating theatrical, dramatic and
emotive environments that portray the creativity and emotional sensations of our world
backstage.
The result is three intimate installations, companion pieces, a celebration of light itself.
Using light to express a narrative, with a subtle beauty through the kinetic language of light.
